SOPHIE
London-based SOPHIE is a very interesting musician on the cutting-edge electronic music scene right now. His music pays close attention to synthesizing textures that can affect the mood of each song, and the result is something that sounds totally fresh, unique, and fun.
Like Jamie xx, an artist in a similar vein of rising music, SOPHIE is compelled by nightclubs and their surrounding culture. The producer is different from his emerging electronic contemporaries, however.
SOPHIE’s less than a dozen released songs so far are not only bright, bouncy and dance-able but also fascinating to listen to and strange at the same time. Furthermore, by using imagery that is colorful and almost melty, the producer associates the artwork with the sounds he creates.
Product, the debut album from SOPHIE, comes out Nov 27
I think SOPHIE is definitely an artist to keep an ear out for in the coming months. His music is really innovative and sounds so entirely new. McDonald’s has even used SOPHIE’s music to soundtrack their ad!
