Christoph Niemann on the realities of being a designer
I suspect this is advice I’m going to keep coming back to. I also love this quote from Niemann: “This isn’t something you’re born good at, you get good at it,” says Niemann. “A top tennis player doesn’t just stop training once they win.”

The People Who Keep the Design World Running are the Ones We Rarely See
Fascinating article on the people we don’t see who keep design agencies running behind-the-scenes. I also just finished reading AIGA Eye on Design’s first ever magazine issue, and it includes lots of articles related to this core theme of “invisible”.

Photos: Rostam at The Dionysus Disco
Seeing Rostam last night with my cousin was so much fun! He performed a bunch of tracks from his latest album Half-Light, as well as a Discovery track from 2009 and “Young Lion” from Vampire Weekend’s most recent album. There was also a Nick Drake cover and a new song during an encore after the show.
Rostam is a stunning artist to see live, and he was accompanied by a beautiful string quartet and percussionist. The nuances and musical details really came forward during his set, and I loved how Rostam tweaked some of the songs for his live audience (such as performing live guitar on “Wood”).
Overall, it was a very special night and reminded me why I love music so much—as a means to connect and bring people together in a lovely, unforgettable way.
